Deerfield Township Fire Rescue to Begin Annual Fire Hydrant Flushing

Deerfield Township, OH – Deerfield Township Fire Rescue will begin its annual fire hydrant flushing program the week of March 1, 2026. This routine maintenance is conducted each year to ensure hydrants are operating properly and to remove debris and sediment from the underground water system.

Hydrant flushing will occur Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. throughout the township.

During the flushing process, residents may notice water flowing from hydrants in their neighborhood. In some cases, customers in the immediate area may experience temporary water discoloration while crews are working nearby. This condition is not harmful and is typically resolved by running cold water until it clears.

Residents who experience discolored water are encouraged to run their cold water until it becomes clear and avoid doing laundry until the discoloration subsides.

If discoloration persists, residents should contact the Warren County Water & Sewer Department at (513) 695-1377.

A list of hydrants scheduled for flushing and the anticipated date ranges is attached. Please note that schedules may change depending on weather, operational needs, or unforeseen circumstances. Crews may occasionally get ahead of or fall behind the planned schedule.

Residents can expect crews to be working in marked Deerfield Township vehicles while conducting the flushing operations.

Any questions regarding fire hydrants or flushing can be directed to Assistant Chief Matt Hannigan, (513) 583-4791 or mhannigan@deerfieldtwp.com
