Recreation Manager

Deerfield Township, (pop. 40,525) Warren County, OH, located in Southwest Ohio, is currently accepting applications for the Recreation Manager position. The Recreation Manager will be responsible for developing programming in Township-owned facilities, as well as other facilities in Deerfield Township, to improve residents' recreational and leisure opportunities.

The Recreation Manager serves as a member of the township's Parks & Recreation Department and reports to the Parks & Recreation Director. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of the practices of recreation programming and public facility management, personnel rules, policies and procedures; considerable knowledge of management and supervision principles.

The essential functions of this position include:

- Manage recreation services and programs; supervise staff in the planning, development, marketing, operation, implementation and evaluation of recreation services and programs; coordinate activities with other divisions, departments and agencies.

-Plan, supervise, and implement recreation programs, leisure classes and events.

-Manage the permit/approval process for field allocation and special events.

-Recruit, interview, train, supervise and conduct performance evaluations for administrative, seasonal, instructional, programming, and facility staff.

-Negotiate contracts with individuals and agencies providing program services; manage contract compliance; document expenditures; and ensure the proper delivery of service. –

-Manage effective communication with legal staff regarding bi-annual documentation review.

-Plan and implement marketing strategies, including timely promotions and publicity of park and Township events.

-Develop and recommend policies and procedures; conduct regular reviews

A Bachelor's Degree in Park and Recreation Management, Education or closely related field from a regionally accredited college/university, plus three to five years of relevant work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. CPRP certification and/or other park-related certifications are preferred. A valid Ohio driver's license and the ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification are required.

This is a Full time, hourly position. The pay range is $22.31 - $32.10, depending on qualifications. Community Improvement Corporation Board (Volunteer Position)

The Deerfield Township Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) is accepting applications to serve as a member of the CIC Board. Interested residents or employees of businesses located within the township who wish to serve are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and should submit an Application for Appointment, resume and letter stating why they wish to volunteer on the board. The open positions are for three year terms.   

The CIC was created by the Deerfield Township Board of Trustees to manage economic development activities. Its purpose is advancing, encouraging, and promoting the industrial, economic, commercial, and civic development of a community.

The CIC Board is comprised of seven board members. The Board meets on an as needed basis. Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus Pandemic, the Board has meet virtually, however, meetings traditionally take place in the Deerfield Township Trustee Meeting Room, 4900 Parkway Drive, Suite 180, Mason, Ohio 45040.
